About
Welcome to Raising Innovative Kids by May Anderson
Our mission is to encourage children to think creatively, embrace failure, and develop a growth mindset. We work to provide diverse learning experiences and resources.
Who is May
Hi! I’m May! I created this website as a creative outlet to share my parenting journey and be more intentional in my daily life. I want my kids to be wildly successful when they grow up and live happy, fulfilled lives. As I learn and research about how to raise kids, I realize that adaptability and innovation are two of the top skills they must have to succeed. Afterall, 85% of the jobs that our kids will hold do not even exist yet. I write and share this information to help other parents on their journey in raising successful kids. We’ll talk about how to parent kids to become more creative, happier, resilient, confident, successful, and of course innovative.
My Experience
As for me, I love brainstorming creative solutions. I have a multi-faceted bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. I have over a decade of experience as a Professional Engineer. I’ve worked with some of the most innovative teams within the State Department of Transportation to solve problems for the citizens of Utah. These problems range from congested intersections to efficient delivery of projects.
I believe any problem we currently face, or will face in the future, can be solved by innovative and creative thinkers. This means our children! On this site, you will learn more about how to encourage innovation in your children. Not only does the future count on it, but it’s fun, easy to start, and will enrich your present-day life!
Here are ten random things about me:
- I love the HOT weather and while I can appreciate a good snowfall, I hate being cold.
- I often stay up way too late reading or writing and then struggle to get up in the morning.
- I really love soft blankets and long naps.
- I’m a subdued optimist who loves cheesy quotes.
- I’m a gym fanatic and love lifting, running, and yoga.
- I love rich conversations with friends over tea or walks.
- I never realized how much I would love motherhood.
- I also never realized until becoming a mom, how hard motherhood can be.
- My children have challenged me to grow in ways I didn’t know I needed to grow in.
- My husband is my best friend and I’m ever so grateful for him.
It’s nice to “meet” you!
